Detectives believe they’re closing in on a man who has got away with a brutal murder for more than four decades.
Bowen man Rex Kable Keen was bludgeoned to death in his room at Brisbane’s iconic Lennons Plaza Hotel by a man so distinct in appearance police believed he would be easy to catch.
Keen had made his annual trip south to Brisbane to go to the Ekka and attend a medical appointment.
On the night of August 14, 1976, he had ordered a beer at the Crest International Hotel, where he met a man with dark brown hair pulled into a pony tail, tied with a piece of leather, drinking Southern Comfort.
