Valerie was born and baptised in 1922 in St Peters.

​She married to Charles Emanuel Rushton in Rockdale in 1942. Charles was born in Goulburn on 26/08/1919.

​They had 1 son:

• Ray Charles Rushton

The marriage ended in divorce and Valerie married in 1950 in Rockdale to Frederick George Doughty.

They had 3 children together.

Charles Rushton died on 14/03/2007 in Camperdown Hospital, Melbourne.
