Herbert Richard Lester Shanks (1914 – 1976)

Herbert was born in Orange on 15/03/1914. He was baptised at All Saints in Petersham on 29/05/1914.

​He married to Mavis Doris Beith in Drummoyne on 04/12/1945.

Mavis was born in Cobar on 09/02/1916.

​They had 3 children:

  • Lynette Mavis Shanks (1945 –       )

  • John Lester Shanks (1950 – 2005)

  • Richard Daniel Shanks (1954 –        )

Herbert and Mavis seperated around 1960 when they were living at seperate addresses. Herbert went to Toowoomba. Mavis was living in Strathfield with her daughter Lynette and sons and at the end of the 1970’s in Homebush.

Herbert died in Toowoomba on 25/09/1976.

Mavis died in Umina on 08/02/2009.
