Winifred Vera Evans (1892 – 1972)

Winifred was born in West Kempsey Hotel on 30/11/1892.

​She married to James Lester Shanks in 1913 in Bellingen.

James was born in Newtown on 13/05/1889 and baptised in Sydney on 16/06/1889.

​They had the following children:

  • Wilga Mary Shanks (1916 – 1986)

  • Harry Lester Shanks (1920 – 1968)

  • Charles Alan Lester Shanks (1923 – 1990)

  • Thomas Athelston Lester Shanks ( ?  –  ?  )

​James died on 18/12/1947 at his home at Manning Road Double Bay.

Winifred died in Foster on 29/10/1972.

Wilga Mary Shanks (1916 – 1986)

Wilga was born in 1916 in Bellingen.

She marrried to Kelvin Hutchings in Bellingen in 1939.

Kelvin was born in Grafton on 11/10/1910.

He died on 14/01/1945 in Lincolnshire WWII victim

​Wilga married to John Allen Spokes in 1950 in Mayfield.

John was born in Ballengarra in 1923.

​Wilga died in Kendall on 21/07/1986.

John died in John River on 21/10/1996.

Both are buried at Kendall General Cemetery.

Harry Lester Shanks (1920 – 1968)

Harry was born in Bellingen on 05/02/1920.

​He was married and had 3 children.

​Harry died on 31/05/1968 in Inverell.

Charles Alan Lester Shanks (1923 – 1990)

Charles was born in Bellingen on 25/07/1923.

​He married to Mirriam Rosina Foulds.

Mirriam was born on 03/06/1926.

​They had 1 child,

​Charles died in Adelaide on 04/01/1990.

Mirriam died on 27/05/2007 in RGH Adelaide.

Thomas Athelston Lester Shanks (  ?  )

Not much is known about Thomas, other than he married to Cecily Irene Butterworth in 1944 in Hayfield.

They both are on the electoral roll for Balgowlah in 1980, he as a bank officer and she as pharmacy assistant.
