Lucy Mileham (1799 – 1882)

Lucy was born in Windsor on 09/06/1799 and baptised in Sydney on 21/07/1799.

Lucy’s mother (Elizabeth Price) died 15/07/1818. Lucy was cared for by her stepmother Susannah, who married in 1819 Lucy’s father James Mileham.

Lucy married in Parramatta on 22/11/1819 to Samuel Otoo Hassall, born in Coventry England on 13/05/1796.

This was the famous triple wedding where three of Rowland Hassall’s children were married in the same ceremony: Samuel Hassall married Lucy Mileham, Mary Cover Hassall married Rev. Walter Lawry and Jonathan Hassall married Mary Rouse.

 Lucy and Samuel had the following children:

  • Rowland James Hassall (1820 – 1820)

  • Elizabeth Ann Hassall (1821 – 1860)

  • Mary Susannah Hassall (1823 – 1877)

  • Thomas Hancock Hassall (1825 – 1855)

  • James Mileham Hassall (1826 – 1896)

  • Samuel Otoo Hassall (1830 – 1881)

Samuel Sr. died on 25/07/1830 in Cobbity, Camden.

Lucy married on 15/11/1833 in Cobbity to John James Howell, born in Llangarron England on 26/11/1803.

They had the following children:

  • Lydia Howell (1832 – 1915)

  • Lucy Ann Howell (1833 – 1926)

  • John Howell (1835 – 1916)

  • Margaretta Howell (1838 – 1886)

  • Theophilus W Howell (1842 – 1924)

John died in Gundaroo, Yass on 07/06/1847.
