William John Byrne (1851 – 1928)

William was born on 17/08/1851 in Windsor. He was baptised on 09/09/1851 in St. Matthews. On the marriage record his mother’s name was spelled as Julia Cabel.

​He married to Hannah Leedham in 1873 in Windsor. Hannah was born on 06/02/1853 and baptised on 20/03/1853 in Windsor. Hannah died in Balmain on 08/10/1910.

In 1876 a warrant was issued for the arrest of William (see above).

In 1878 he eloped to Warwick Queensland with his first cousin Diana Blanch Ann Teale. They had 1 registered child together:

  • Violet Cable (17/03/1879 – 24/03/1879)

​She died 1 week after her birth (QLD BDM 1879/5821).  Diana also died shortly after on 16 April 1879 (QLD BDM 1879/2429). She is registered in “Find a grave Index” as Dinah Cable.

At this time he assumed the surname of his mother and was known as William John Cable (Kable).

​In the years ahead William formed a relationship with Elizabeth Cooper who is believed to have resided in or around Warwick. Elizabeth was born on 09/05/1862 in Queensland.  They had a number of children:

  • Oswald Cable (1887 – 1940)

  • Edward John Cable (1889 – 1962)

  • James Henry Cable (1892 – 1965)

  • Thomas William Cable (1896 – 1966)

  • Roland Alfred Cable (1897 – 1899)

​William died in the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum (Qld) on 05/09/1928 and was buried under his birth name of William John Byrne.

There is no birth registered for Thomas William, only a death record.

George was born in Windsor on 24/08/1874. He was registered as Byrnes.​George died in Windsor on 11/10/1876.

James Henry Cable (1892 – 1965)

James was born in Queensland on 07/05/1892.

​He married to Sarah Teresa Agnes Moxham in QLD on 22/12/1914.
Sarah was born in Mundie Creek, Pentland, QLD  on 18/12/1893.

​They had 1 child.

​James died in Townsville QLD on 29/06/1965.
Sarah died in Brisbane on 11/12/1978.

Roland Alfred Cable (1897 – 1899)
