After school hours on Tuesday a seven year old boy, Joseph Magner, of 18 Munns Street Millers Point, went down to the bay with two other boys, aged 9 and 10 respectively for the purpose of sailing a toy boat.  Shortly after Magner was crouching on the stone steps near the M M Company’s wharf when he overbalanced and fell into the water.  His companions could not swim.  Later the little fellow’s brother dived in and recovered the body.  Meanwhile Dr Johnston arrived.  His efforts at resuscitation were at first successful but after a while the child collapsed and died.
