A story by “Tophamrobyn01” in Ancestery:
Lenny acquired a pilot’s licence when he was well past middle age. He flew from Coffs Harbour to Sydney Banksthown Airport from whence he then proceeded to Sydney to stay with his sister Emily and her family. Lenny invited all to a Sunday outing at Bankstown with the view to taking all “game” relatives up in the air. My mother Daphne, Lenny’s neice, was more than a bit agitated and advised anyone who would listen that it was a “foolhardy thing” to accept Lenny’s invitation. However my then husband Richard plus Ron Williams were brave and away they flew. All was well and our little group returned home. On completion of his Sydney holiday Lenny prepared to return to his home at Coffs Harbour. Hopefully my mother had not put a jinx on dear old Len because bad weather hampered his flight, he crashed. His plane a writeoff but Lenny bowed but not conquered. However I do not remember him purchasing a “new” plane.
