Joseph was born in 1825 in Pitt Town, New South Wales.
Joseph never married but had a relationship with Susan Baldwin.
Susan was the daughter of Wellow Baldwin (1804 – 1869) who was the son of Henry Baldwin (1769 – 1843), arrived in Australia as a convict (Third Fleet) in 1791 on board the “Admiral Barrington”.
Susan was born 18/01/1827 in Wilberforce and baptised on 27/01/1928.
Joseph and Susan had 2 daughters:
-
Caroline Rosena Julia Teale (1848 – 1848)
-
Josephina Teale (1853 – 1932)
Susan died by accidental burning on 22/06/1856 in Freemans Reach.
The Sydney Morning Herald of 30 June 1856 reported the coroners inquest into Susan’s death:

Little is known who looked after Josephina (2 yo) after Susan’s death.
That she later married Rowland Baldwin might indicate that she was taken into the care of the Baldwin family.
Joseph died on 14/05/1901 in Rookwood Asylum Hospital and was buried on 16/05/1901 at Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood, Sydney.
